Shoot-On-the-Move-Outdoor Range (SOMOR) is a training ground that offers a conducive environment for applying all the skills and enhancements gained in the classroom and virtual range. It is here, in the outdoor shooting range, that the comprehensive package of technique, skill, proficiency, mobility, agility, speed, and accuracy come together and are rigorously tested. One of the significant advantages of this setting is improved hearing protection, coupled with a reduced likelihood of inhaling smoke or gunshot residue. The freedom of movement in SOMOR training allows for a more dynamic and realistic practice. However, with these freedoms come stricter safety rules to ensure the well-being of all participants. The outdoor environment provides the opportunity to simulate real-world scenarios, enhancing the effectiveness of the training and preparing individuals for various situations they may encounter in the field, and in everyday life.
Static-Electronic-Indoor Range (SEIR), while enjoyable and purposeful, is characterized by its highly regulated nature due to the enclosed and confined setting. In this environment, students are often restricted from practicing certain techniques, such as working out of the holster, engaging in movement, rapid firing, or moving from stall to stall. These limitations can make it challenging to perform dynamic exercises. However, the SEIR setting offers a controlled space where shooting practice can take place, providing a safe and regulated environment. Despite the restrictions, SEIR remains a valuable facility for training, allowing individuals to focus on precision and controlled shooting. Ultimately, the choice of training environment depends on the individual's preferences and the specific skills they wish to develop.
